Afghan Squad announced for T20 World Cup

Shabir Nori and Sayed Nasrat are the new faces in the Afghanistan squad for the country’s first major tournament – the ICC Twenty20 cricket World Cup.

Nori has come into the Afghan squad at the expense of Aftab Alam, who has been overlooked after competing in the qualifying tournament in February in the United Arab Emirates.

Nasrat also joins Nori in the squad for the tournament, which starts on April 30 in the Caribbean.

Afghanistan open their Group C campaign against India on May 1 before taking on South Africa on May 5, with both games being shown live on Sky Sports.

Two teams will advance from the group stage.

Afghanistan squad: Nawroz Mangal (captain), Mohammad Nabi, Karim Sadiq, Mirwais Ashraf, Rais Ahmadzai, Dawlat Ahmadzai, Mohammad Shahzad, Hamid Hassan, Samiullah Shinwari, Noor Ali, Asghar Stanikzai, Shahpoor Zadran, Shabir Noori, Sayed Nasrat, Shafiq Shafaq.
