Major Gen Syed Muhammad Owais has been promoted as Lt Gen and has been appointed as commander of army air defence and his predecessor Lt Gen Salim Ashraf has been retired on completion of his service tenure , say military sources.

Prime Minister has issued notification in this respect. Corps Commander Peshawar Lt Gen Masood Aslam will stand retired on April, 10. Lt Gen Asif Yasin Malik would assume the responsibilities as corps commander Peshawar in his place on April, 11 who was earlier performing the duties as Deputy DG ISI, He has also been promoted from the post of Maj Gen to Lt Gen.
