US to provide another fourteen latest F-16 fighter jets: Air Chief

Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman has said that United States has agreed to give another fourteen latest F-16 fighter jets and there is no threat to the country from the western borders.

Speaking to media briefing at Air headquarters in Islamabad on, on going High Mark 2010 exercises, Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman said PAF is ready to thwart any internal or external threat.

He said exercises are meant for maintaining peace and would continue till May 10 and PAF has no aggressive designs against any nation or country. The sole purpose of these exercises is to ensure country’s defence and sovereignty.

He told that United States has agreed to give another fourteen latest F-16 fighter jets in addition to already committed eighteen F-16/ fifty-two models.

The Air Chief said soon after High Mark ends PAF F-16 jets would be flying over Atlantic Ocean to participate in joint exercises named red and green exercises with US air force.

The Air Chief made it clear that in case India carry out surgical attacks against Pakistan, PAF has capability to give befitting response within minutes to Indians.

He said the country faces no threat from the western border but as in the past we have threat from eastern border

He said that Pakistan Air force had never asked US for drone technology and the PAF is preparing its own UAV drone technology

Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman said Pakistan Army was able to succeed war against militancy by the strong support air support provided by PAF. Air Chief said PAF also used its own drones in the war against militancy in Waziristan.

To another question the Air Chief said Shamsi Air base is Balochistan is neither under PAF nor under Pakistan Army’s control.
