Pakistan observes Earth Hour for the first time

Following global footsteps, Pakistan also observed Earth Hour from 8:30 to 9:30 PM while the lights of Presidency, PM House, Parliament House, Provincial Assemblies, Governor Houses and all other important buildings were turned off.
According to details a ceremony regarding celebrating earth hour was held in Punjab’s Governor House while Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani was the chief guest of the ceremony, who celebrated the ceremony by turning off the lights of Governor House.
The lights of Sindh Assembly were also kept off due to which the building turned into darkness while the members of the Assembly burnt the candles inside the assembly’s building.
Similarly Punjab Assembly and Balochistan Assemblies also turned off the lights while deputy speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Mashhood and the other assembly’s member burnt candles while PC Hotel and other important buildings in Peshawar also kept their lights off.On the other hands the citizens of Pakistan in their remarks said that they were facing ‘ more than 15 hours as earth hours daily’ therefore it did not suit them to celebrate it.
They urged of the government to solve the issue of electricity shortage and only then the event should be celebrated.
