Govt decides to increase power tariff by 6.5 percent

Government has decided to increase rates of electricity up to 6.5 percent after the increase in rates of petroleum products under its agreement with the World Bank.

The new increase in tariff would be implemented from 1st of April.

According to details, the government has decided to increase the electricity prices under its agreement with World Bank and Asian Development Bank, while after this increase in rate, the price of electricity would increase up to 4 to 5 rupees per unit while the commercial users would have to pay double of it.

The sources said that after the increase in electricity, there would be more inflation in the country and if the government would not take back its decision then people would not be reluctant to hold long march.
