Modern Cobra helicopters handed over to Pakistan by US

United States on Tuesday handed over one squadron of modern Cobra helicoptors to Pakistan.
Military sources told Online here on Tuesday that a team of Army Aviation had gone Urdan where these helicoptors were and have reached Pakistan few days back.
Sources said that these helicoptors are part Pak-US defense and military cooperation and would be used in anti-terrorism operations.
According to sources, US would spend 75 million dollars on the upgradation of fleet of Cobra helicoptors already with Pakistan, because maintaining them in good condition is very defficult.
Pakistan, sources said, has presently several Cobra helicoptors AH-1F and AH-1S and maintaining them in good conditions is very defficult task.
The US, sources added, has assured Pakistan that it would provide moder AH-1Z in place of AH-1 in phases by 2015 and the squardron provided now, is the latest edition of AH-1 Cobra helicoptors with two blades, single engine and transmission system.
In these helicoptors, one pilot, one assistant pilot and one gunner can sit and its speed is 352 km, while its weight is 2754kg.
It has 2 x 7.62 MM multi-barrel mini guns, 2×40 MM grenade launchers besides 70MM rockets could be fired from them.
