Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has sent an advice to President Asif Ali Zardari for the appointment of Woman Governor in Gilgit- Baltistan.

According to government sources, the appointment of first Women Governor for Gilgit-Baltistan would be announced in the next few days.

Sources further told that the Woman to be appointed as Governor Gilgit-Baltistan is professionally doctor and has been associated with Pakistan Peoples Party since long.

According to sources, Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah was also consulted in the appointment of Governor and names of Dr. Shama Khalid and Dr. Shahzadi were appeared for the post of Governor Gilgit-Baltistan, however, President Asif Ali Zardari would formally issue the notification in this regard in the next few days.

President Asif Ali Zardari had announced the appointment of Women Governor for Gilgit- Baltistan on the second death anniversary of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.

It may be recalled that Gilgit-Baltistan was given the status of province by the incumbent PPP-led government.
