The central leader of banned Sipah-e-Sahaba and Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor has succumbed to injuries after two-day life struggle here in Liaqat National hospital on Sunday owing to severe injuries.
According to details, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Nadeem, the central leader and Secretary Information of Sipah-e-Sahaba, passed away in a local hospital who was injured by the firing of unknown gunmen on the other day near AO Clinic in the area of Nazim Abad.
It should be mentioned that Maulana was en route to City Court to appear before the court, when he was attacked near Annu Bhai Park by armed motorists. He, his three sons and a guard were injured in the attack. All of them were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital; however, his son Mu’awia succumbed to injuries.
The hospital administration revealed that two operation were conducted of the deceased Maulana Ghafoor but he could not survive due to sever bullet injuries and passed away on Sunday morning.
Hospital sources informed that the Maulana received several bullets in his hands and belly and he was succumb to injuries.
On the other hand, hundreds of followers of the deceased Maulana assembled here outside the hospital and started chanting slogans against the government while the police closed down the all trading centers of Stadium road including international fast food chains, restaurants, petrol pumps and nearer roads as well after the protest.
The followers of the Sipah-e-Sahaba moved the dead body of the martyred Maulana in the form of procession towards Jamia Masjid Siddique, Nagan Chorangi from the hospital.
Various people belonging to different walks of life expressed grief over the sad demise of the Maulana and prayed for the departed soul and for the bereaved family for bearing this loss.
Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Nadeem was the Khateeb of Jamia Masjid Siddique, Nagan Chorangi and escaped death in several killing attacks.
He remained in jail for several years and the only remaining leader of the Sipah-e-Sahaba after the murders of all renowned leaders.
The police station Nazim Abad registered the case, 180/10 against six unknown persons while they also apprehended a person, Qamar from the Aurangi town allegedly involved in the incident. The police also released the sketch of the suspected attacker of the target killing incident but no succession has been received yet.
