Earlier, Central Ameer Ahl-i-Sunnat Maulana Mohammad Ahmed Lodhanvi led the funeral prayer of Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Nadeem also participated by hundreds of people. Strict security measures were taken at funeral site with deployment of rangers.
Ahl-i-Sunnat leader Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Nadeem who was attacked by unidentified gunmen on Thursday, succumbed to his injuries in a local hospital Sunday morning.
Maulana Ghafoor was on his way along with his two sons to the city courts Thursday morning, when four unknown assailants opened fire on his vehicle in Karachi’s Nazimabad area.
Following the attack, Maulana Ghafoor’s son, Muawaiya, was killed on the spot while the Ahl-i-Sunnat leader and his other son, Rashid Nadeem, were admitted to hospitals in critical conditions.
Maulana Ghafoor has been affiliated with the banned sectarian organization Sipah-i-Sahaba and was also nominated as Secretary Information for Ahl-i-Sunnat.
The leaders of organization have appealed to their activists to remain calm. According to Spokesman Ahl-i-Sunnat Qari Ahsan Ullah, Protest day would be observed across Sindh including Karachi against the murder of Ahl-i-Sunnat leader Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Nadeem.
