Chairman NAB goes on long leave

Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Naveed Ahsan has gone on a long leave and Deputy chairman Irfan Nadeem has assumed responsibilities of Acting Chairman NAB.

Sources of NAB while confirming it told Online News Agency said that Chairman NAB applied for long leave in an application to President Asif Ali Zardari.

Naveed Ahsan in his application said that he already tendered his resignation on February 24 to the Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani but was asked by PM to continue till the appointment of his successor. But it is not possible for him to continue his responsibilities any more, he written in the application.

Naveed Ahsan informed the high officials of NAB about his decision and met with his staff.

Sources further told that Naveed Ahsan did not want to continue his work after offering resignation and he taken the decision after deliberation.

The Chairman NAB wanted to reopen Swiss Cases in accordance with the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan but the government did not allow him. Naveed Ahsan wanted to bring back the record of Swiss Cases but Pakistani High Commissioner in UK Wajid Shamas ul Hassan refused to send the record.
