A joint delegation of elected representatives of Kohat and Hangu districts and Kurram and Orakzai agencies highlighted concern of the people of the area regarding kidnapping incident of the Vice Chancellor of the KUST, University.
According to handout issued here on Tuesday, the delegation was called on the NWFP Governor, Owais Ahmed Ghani at Governor’s House Peshawar on Tuesday.
The delegation was comprised of MNAs, Pir Haider Ali Shah, who is also Parliamentary Secretary for Industries & Production, Pir Dilwar Shah, Mr. Sajid Hussain Tori and Syed Jawad Hussain as well as MPAs, Dr. Iqbal Fana and Syed Qalb-e-Hassan while besides the Secretary to Governor, Mr. Sikandar Qayyum, the Acting Vice Chancellor of Kohat University of Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Shafique Rehman and the Principal of Kohat Medical Institute, Dr. Saleem Khattak were also present on this occasion.
The members of the delegation apprised the Governor about the future needs with regard to promotion of higher education in Kohat Division as well as the tribal agencies situated in its surrounding. They also highly appreciated the courageous and responsive role of the faculty and students of KUST in ensuring congenial educational atmosphere in their institution despite many hardships and assured their fullest cooperation in making implementation possible on its further development plans.
They also highlighted the concern of the people of the area regarding kidnapping incident of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dr. Lutfullah Kakakhel assured their fullest cooperation for ensuring his safe and early recovery.
They also requested the Governor to help in early provision of compensation to the bereaved families, affected by terrorist incidents, occurred at Tall and Hangu.
Speaking on the occasion the Governor highlighted the importance of higher education and the efforts underway for making it accessible to the people of every area. He also appreciated the spirit and cooperation of the elected representatives of the division and the adjoining tribal agencies for ensuring provision of better educational facilities in the institutions of their respective areas.
Referring to the suggestions put forward by the elected representatives of the Division, the Governor said, it is well thought policy of the government to further upgrade standard of academic and research facilities in higher education sector and expand their infrastructure network and to achieve this cherished goal and materialize the desired projects, he added, no effort will be spared to manage resources.
He also welcomed the point of view of the elected representatives and assured them every possible support in giving practical shape to the suggestions.
The Governor described the kidnapping incident of the renowned educationist, Prof. Dr. Lutfullah Kakakhel as high unfortunate and also apprised the delegates about the efforts underway for ensuring his safe recovery. He also assured to take necessary measures for early provision of compensation to the affected families of the terrorist incidents occurred at Tall and Hangu.
